Fernando Bocadillos was born Fernando Christian Rodriguez Besel. And then I became a bad musician at an early age by playing slide on my father’s classical guitar with a toy plastic car. It happened in the morning. I was turning into something else. I loved my face and I said to myself that ere hard and they are still hard. My father died in 2004. I tried to commit suicide in 2006 by taking clonazepam pills, that didn’t work: I woke up the next morning with a very wide smile on my face. The wall didn’t suck me in, the night still lasts long and hard and cold, but I’ve got a lady friend, guitars, food to eat, strings to whip, a cock to get fucked and an ass to get rimmed. I am not ashamed of myself. I’ve been living alone for 15 years. I got a shaky leg and a feeble heart and I cry with movies and get angrily confused at loud noises like Brick Tamland at that Ron Burgundy movie. All I’ve learned was taken in in hugs and books and movies in English which I didn’t understand. I wrote a novel and a half, 4000 songs and I am more confused than ever. There are no final wisdom words, no acts of courage. Everybody has a fatum to accomplish and that gorgone to avoid. I have given and received all the love we could afford. Love is not pain but, you pay. Enjoy your day, folks, there is music behind the golden face of music. There is nothing recreational in trying to talk to God. The only ones being amused by our prayer are the mean angels that fly around us to confound us and mess with our state of vital and luminous. Ask Marilyn Monroe, ask Gandhi. Ask Elvis. Ask the moneymen. Ask Neil Young. Ask Link Wray. Ask Adolf Hitler and Charles De Gaulle. Ask the miner. Ask the delivery boy with a hot pizza in his hand getting pennies for saving your desperate night. Ask the burning sun, ask the mute moon that lays in your yellow hand. Ask the mirror that silently cheats on you while you sleep the nightmare away. Ask yourself: can I be that guy on that poster on my wall? Do I have a wall and what for? I used to be young and now I’m not. Don’t trust youth, that bitch will have something to do somewhere else very soon. Fuck the virus, we want everything.
